This 2-hour course provides the participant with a comprehensive review of current types of venous catheters, placement, management, and risk factors.
Catheters reviewed include traditional peripheral catheters, peripheral midlines, peripherally inserted central catheters, single and multi-lumen subclavians, Broviac, Hickman, and Groshong tunneled catheters, and implantable ports.
This 8-hour program has been designed to provide any Healthcare Provider with a basic review of venipuncture techniques for blood draws and catheter placements.
Content includes a review of vascular anatomy and physiology, device review, infection control & aseptic technique, IV catheter insertion techniques, complications, care and maintenance, and a simulated practice.
This course is a good review for both licensed and unlicensed personnel who are required to perform any venipuncture procedure. Nursing students are welcome! Total of 8 contact hours.

This 100-hour (20 week) program provides the nurse with comprehensive extended IV education; the highest level that may be achieved without actually sitting for a national exam.
The program has been divided into four sections: current practice & equipment, venous access devices, general infusion therapies, and special patients & therapies.
After completing sections 101-104 students will receive a Certificate of I.V. Practice for the general level. Each section meets for five weeks; one five-hour session per week. Total of 100 contact hours for Nurses.

Topics include preparing a presentation using the principles of adult education, writing behavioral objectives that meet continuing education guidelines, potential presentation pitfalls, utilization and management of audio visuals, and more!!! No prerequisites required.

This clinical day is appropriate for ANY Healthcare Provider who has a need or desire to better understand infusion practice.
Licensed participants will be given the opportunity to gain hands-on precepted practice with a qualified instructor in an acute care environment. Multiple I.V. therapy / infusion experiences will be available, including peripheral I.V. placements, central catheter dressing changes, and I.V. medications and fluid administration.
A Pre-Test, as well as the individual’s healthcare discipline will dictate which hands-on procedures will be available and/or allowed. Observation Only sessions are available for Pharmacists and Nursing Students. Total of 8 contact hours.

This 30-hour program meets the Florida Board of Nursing IV Therapy requirement for LPNs. RNs are encouraged to attend as a refresher.
This course has been designed to provide the RN or LPN with a basic knowledge of IV Therapy practice.
Upon successful completion the participant will receive documentation of 30 hours of IV Therapy Education. Total of 30 contact hours for Nurses.

This program provides a unique opportunity for the advanced I.V. Nurse to gain education and one-on-one instructor supervised, hands-on experience in the placement of Midlines and Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters in an acute care environment.
Upon completion of both the Education Day and a Clinical Day, the participant will receive a Certificate of Midline-PICC Qualification.
Midline-PICC Education
This 8-hour day has been designed for the R.N. who has a thorough understanding of the practice of current infusion therapy and desires to acquire the skill to insert “long-dwell” I.V. cathers. This portion of the program will comprehensively review all aspects of practice relating to Midlines and PICCs. Benefits and application of Midlines and PICCs will be emphasized.
Content includes patient selection and indication, anatomy and physiology, device review, placement methods, complications, care & maintenance, catheter repair and exchange, a simulated practice, and a post test. Total of 8 contact hors for Nurses.

Midline-PICC Clinical Day
This portion of the program will consist of 3-4 (if available) one-on-one instructor supervised, hands-on, bedside insertion procedures.
Classes are limited to one student per day. Students must wear appropriate hospital clinical attire. Prerequisite: Completion of an approved PICC Education course within the last 3 months. Total of 8 contact hours.

This 2-hour session is designed to provide a networking resource, for local clinicians who currently place PICCs, to share information and ideas.
